"The giver" is a book about a young boy called Jonas who gets chosen to become a "Receiver of Memory". He gets given memories of colors, snow, feelings, all the things that his town are too single minded to see. Yet the memories also have pain; war, death, and many more miseries. The memories give him physical pain. Will Jonas be able to endure the pain?  Will the Giver help him with his pain?

 Lois Ann Hammersberg, was born march 20 1937, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was the middle of three kids: Helen, her older sister, and Jon, her younger brother. Helen died in 1962 because of cancer. When she was two, they moved to Brooklyn because her father was an army dentist. In 1942, they moved to Pennsylvania. After the war, they moved to Tokyo, japan, (in 1948).  After, she returned to the states for high school. She graduated in 1954 and continued schooling for another two years, also meeting and married Donald Grey Lowry.  They had four kids;  Alix, Kristin, Grey and Benjamin. In 1977, she wrote her first book, "A summer to die".  Donald and Lois divorced that year.                                                                                                                                     Awards:

I want to recommend this book because, I  find the story is simply amazing, and it is very touching. It is full of feelings and emotion, it is just great!

The level of reading is for people from ten years old, plus, but the appropriator rate is for eleven or twelve plus.
